Hello,

Welcome to 4th grade!

I am excited to kick off the new year by getting to know your child. Here are some essential things to know. Be sure to ask your child about the bookmark and what book they read each night!

  • Students should read their Good Fit book every night & bookmarks should be initialed/signed
  • The blog should be checked by students and parents every Sunday. It will be posted at 3:00pm
  • Please make sure your child has headphones/earbuds
  • There are no specials on late start days
  • Students should bring in a water bottle and healthy snack each day
  • Please plan to bring in a small item to share the week of school (favorite toy, souvenir, award, etc.) Also, please plan on bringing a good book to read from your home and some of your favorite photos (old & new) to use to decorate your writer’s notebook. These will be cut and glued on a notebook so keep that in mind when choosing pictures:)

  • IF YOU HAVE A SPECIAL PICTURE IN A FRAME PLEASE SEND IT IN! YOU WILL GET IT BACK AT THE END OF THE YEAR! I LIKE TO PUT THE PICTURES AROUND THE ROOM. THESE SPECIAL PICTURES HELP GIVE THE CLASSROOM A WARM AND HOMEY FEELING. PICTURES CAN INCLUDE THE STUDENT WITH A FAMILY PET, VACATION ETC. (I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS AT THE ICE CREAM SOCIAL)!

  • St. Joseph Public Schools will provide your child with all necessary materials. If you would like to provide additional supplies, we would suggest the following:

FOURTH GRADE

  • Headphones or earbuds

  • 1 box of colored pencils

  • 1 box of markers

  • 1 package of large ZipLock Bags

  • 1 package of small ZipLock Bags

  • 1 box of #2 Sharpened Pencils (yellow only)

  • 1 permanent bound composition notebook (no designs and wide-ruled)

  • 3 spiral notebooks (no designs, any color, wide-ruled)10.5x8/70 sheets

*Students will donate items and will not keep them as personal items. They will be stored in a donation cupboard

throughout the school year due to a lack of space. So please NO items with unique designs or colors.

If you are interested in volunteering to organize classroom parties fill out the Google Forms. Thank you for your consideration!

Snacks in the Classroom

Please make sure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
