Month of October Halloween Clip Art - Month of October ...

Hello Lincoln Families,

This week on Tuesday, we have our Fall party! Thank you in advance to the committee that is putting together games, activities, and fun treats! Our party will be from 2:00-3:00. The parade will be at 3:15. If you are helping in the classroom, you will need to fill out the consent form below.  Details from Mrs. Knuth are below. Just a reminder, Thursday and Friday are half days.  Have a fabulous week!

Halloween Parties

Halloween parties are scheduled for October 31st. Party times will be communicated by teachers through their weekly communication. Please note the following:

  • Volunteers must have a volunteer consent form filled out ahead of time each year.
  • It is a busy day at the school that day. Parking is limited as is the space in the classrooms. Please refrain from just visiting the class party.

Costumes: Students can wear costumes to school. If there are masks or items that cover the hands, please plan to keep those in the backpack during class time and only wear them during the party and the parade. Additionally, please save any weapons or gore for the night of Halloween--we don't want to scare our littlest learners! We know this day will be exciting, but any help with eliminating distractions for learning time will be greatly appreciated.

Parade: We will have a school-wide parade on the 31st. If weather permits, families are welcome to come and watch the parade at 3:15 by standing outside the playground fence area. In the case of rain, the outside portion of the parade will be canceled.

In the classroom: I encourage you to ask your child what's going on in the classroom. For example, What EBLI strategy are you learning? How do you add fractions?

Reading: Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea of non-fiction and fiction passages and books using EBLI strategies.  I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a  focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. What is EBLI?

Math: Unit 3: 20 lessons. Students learn that a fraction a/b is a product of a whole number 'a' and a unit fraction 1/b, or a/b = a × 1/b, and that n × a/b = (n × a)/b. Students learn to add and subtract fractions with like denominators and to add and subtract tenths and hundredths.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please make sure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks, including sandwiches. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These food items work better in the lunchroom. Because the 4th grade has a fast-paced curriculum, snack time is a quick break, not a meal. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
