Dear Lincoln Families,
Tomorrow is Patriot Day! Wear red, white and blue!
Testing for the Reading NWEA will begin this week on Tuesday, September 12th. Math NWEA will be the following week September 19th. We will begin testing each day at 9:00. If possible, please consider not scheduling appointments. Students can bring in gum or mints to have during the test. The results from the testing are beneficial for our teacher team to use to get to know your child as a learner and begin to set learning goals for the Student-Led Conferences in October!
Student-led conferences will be on October 12th (which is a half-day), October 16th, 17th, and 18th. With the teacher's support, students will present learning goals and "glows" for their conferences. Together the student, parent, and teacher will discuss and celebrate a plan for the student. So each child needs to be present at the conference. Please sign up below on the link provided. If you have questions, more information will be given at Back-to-School Night.

Our class is doing a wonderful job getting the daily reading done at home! Thank you for encouraging your child to have a "good fit" book in their backpack and read for 20 minutes or more at home. Again, once the reading is finished, students need to record the minutes and pages read. Please sign your initials to the bookmarker. This is one example of how students can earn "yards" and eventually score a touchdown! This is a wonderful way to continue the conversation with your child about what they are reading. Be sure to ask them about, the "who" (characters), the "what" (problem or situation), and "why" (solution).
Thank you for the classroom donations. We have a long year, and your kindness is appreciated. I took an inventory and we could use more dry-erase markers. Thank you for your consideration. Thank you for sending a daily snack and water bottle each day.
Remember to send in pictures for the writers' notebook and a picture in a frame of a special moment to put in the classroom! You will get the frame back at the end of the year. Thank you!
If your child is interested in the Safety Patrol Program. Below is the parent permission Google form. Training will begin next week.
Have a fantastic Week!
If your child is interested in being a Safety Patrol Officer for this school year please fill out the form below. Safety Patrollers help ensure that children cross the streets safely before and after school. This responsibility means that they must be at their assigned post at 8:10 every morning and stay at the post until about 4:05 p.m., for the week they are assigned. Students who ride the bus will start the bus patrol when they get off the bus in the morning and before they get on the bus in the afternoon. Please fill out the Safety Patrol Parent Permission Google form if your child is able to participate in this program. Please click on this link to fill out the form.
