Hello Lincoln Families,
Thank you to the committee and to the people who sent in the Kindness party items! It was a wonderful afternoon. We all enjoyed reading the kind notes and eating the fabulous treats! Your generosity made 23 students and one teacher smile, laugh, and have so much fun!
Spring Conference Information: An email about spring conferences was recently sent home. Let me know if you have any questions or did not receive any information. I look forward to meeting with parents and their children for a student-led conference this Thursday at your scheduled time. If you are not coming in for a student-led conference, your child's conference slides will be emailed to you tomorrow, Monday, February 19th at 4:00. Your child can present them at your convenience this week. After the conference email me and your child will get a TOUCHDOWN! All students will get a touchdown after their conference!

Reading: Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea of non-fiction and fiction passages and books using EBLI strategies. I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. What is EBLI?

Social Studies: Unit 3 Human Geography in the United States. In this unit, students explore the United States through the lens of human geography with a focus on the themes of movement and human/environment interaction. Using literature and primary sources, they study the push and pull factors of migration and the influence of migration on culture within the United States. Through both historical and current examples students explore ways people have used, adapted to, and modified various environments in the U.S. They deepen their understanding of human-environment interactions by assessing positive and negative effects of human activities on the physical environment. Returning again to historical examples, students explore ways in which geography can be used to interpret history. Finally, students will research and write an informational essay on a historical event.
The Positivity Project focus this week is Appreciation of Being Present.
