Hello Lincoln Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! If you signed up to chaperone for the Lansing Trip you will receive an email tomorrow (Monday, April 8th) at 4:00 explaining the details.  Please check your email tomorrow after school. Only parents who have signed up to chaperone and have filled out the office consent form will receive the email. 

Tomorrow we will be outside observing the Solar Eclipse! If you send in a beach towel with your child for them to sit on, it would be more comfortable during that time. Also, Ms. Mileham needs more five-gallon buckets for the music concert. If anyone has some we can borrow that would be great! Thanks!

If you scroll down you will see all the future testing dates for the M-Step and NWEA. Please try to have your child at school on those days. Testing is always done in the morning, before lunch.

In the classroom: I encourage you to have your child present to you their historical event slides. The slides have notes from their research and text features of the event. These can be found in their Google Drive. The 5 paragraph essays are finished and will be sent home sometime in April.

Reading: Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea of non-fiction and fiction passages and books using EBLI strategies. I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. What is EBLI?

Math:  Unit 6: Students multiply and divide multi-digit whole numbers using partial products and partial quotients strategies, and apply this understanding to solve multi-step problems using the four operations.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please make sure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks, including sandwiches. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These food items work better in the lunchroom. Because the 4th grade has a fast-paced curriculum, snack time is a quick break, not a meal. Thank you for your understanding. 

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!

*Half-day dismissal is at 12:09 p.m.

*Shuttle riders should head outside at 3:30 on full days and 11:55 on half days.

  Hello Lincoln Families, Sarett Field Trip: We will be going to Sarett on Friday from 12:30-2:00. Parents are welcome to meet us there. We will be hiking through different habitats, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. There is a $3 adult entrance fee that can be paid at Sarett.  Thank you!  Penny War:  Student Council is raising money for the Curious Kids Museum and Meals on Wheels. In an effort to get the whole school involved, we are having a penny war competition. Starting Monday kids are encouraged to bring in pennies for the next three weeks. They will turn them into milk containers during lunch. Dollars are welcome too! All silver coins can be used to deduct points by placing them in an opposing grade level's container.   Hello Lincoln Families, Just a reminder the Kindness Party will be on February 14th from 2:00-3:00. I reached out to the committee who signed up to organize snacks/treats. However, if you have a special treat you would like to send in you are more than welcome. We have no food allergies.  If you decide you want to send in treats, you can send them in with your child the day before or the day of the party. This party will be similar to the holiday party in December. We will have snacks and students can distribute Valentine's cards if they want to.  Click on this link for student names  for Valentine's cards. We will not need parents to come in. Spring conferences are on an as-needed basis. I have emailed parents, notifying them if I feel a need for a conference. Please read carefully:)   Here is the  snack sign-up sheet  for the Lansing trip as well. Snacks must be the exact brand name and flavor as the signup.
